The Delta Blue is the entry-level Delta card: no annual fee, a modest welcome bonus, a bonus rate at restaurants and on Delta purchases, baseline elsewhere, and a discount on in-flight purchases.
As a Delta loyalty card, it's deliberately limited — no free checked bag, no priority boarding, no companion certificate. The in-flight discount has real value if you buy drinks or snacks on flights but is a niche benefit otherwise. For occasional Delta flyers who don't want to commit to an annual fee, this card is a reasonable way to earn SkyMiles on dining and flights. The absence of a free checked bag is the meaningful gap versus the Delta Gold (annual fee but the bag benefit alone saves real money per trip for a couple). If you fly Delta more than twice a year with checked luggage, Gold pays for itself.
