The Premium Rewards is BoA's mid-tier travel card and the cleanest argument in the lineup: a category bonus on travel and dining, a healthy flat rate on everything else, a sizable welcome bonus, an airline incidental credit, and a TSA PreCheck/Global Entry credit. No foreign transaction fees.
Preferred Rewards customers at the top tier earn at a rate that puts this card head-to-head with the Capital One Venture and ahead of most other mid-tier travel cards on raw earn rates. Without the relationship boost, the card is good but not exceptional — the Venture Rewards earns a similar flat rate with a comparable welcome offer and includes transferable miles. The Premium Rewards' redemption flexibility (any travel purchase, no portal lockdown) is its strongest non-banking-relationship draw.
