Editor's Take
CardCompareHub editorialEditorial Note: This analysis reflects CardCompareHub's independent review. It has not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by The Bank of Missouri.
The Aspire is a subprime card with rewards stapled to it: a category bonus on gas, groceries, and utilities, a flat baseline elsewhere, no security deposit. The catch is the fee structure escalates after year one and the APR is at the regulatory ceiling. At those numbers, the category rewards would need to clear the annual fee just to break even — meaning the rewards aren't really rewards, they're a partial fee rebate.
Realistically, anyone who can pay the balance in full each month and spend enough in those categories has access to better-priced options. The Capital One QuicksilverOne earns more after fees on most spend patterns, and the Mission Lane Cash Back Visa has no annual fee at all. The Aspire's actual use case is narrow: someone in the fair-credit range who needs an unsecured card and won't carry a balance. If you'll carry a balance, the APR will eat the rewards in a single month.
